What is Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the card games that can be found in casinos around the world. Online casinos are no exception. This online casino game simply has to be there. Here we explain how you can also play blackjack online for real money, what advantages online blackjack can have for you, and what else you should consider.

Blackjack is a card game that pits you and your fellow players against the dealer. The goal is to get your hand closer to a card value of 21 than the dealer, but without exceeding that value.

Hit, stand and bust

Each player is given the opportunity to improve their hand in turn. You have the choice of requesting one or more additional cards from the dealer (hit) or ending your game round (stand). If you take another card and your hand exceeds the value 21, you automatically lose the game round (bust) and with it your bet.

The dealer round

When all players have completed their round, it is the dealer’s turn. He must proceed according to a strictly defined scheme. In most blackjack variants, he must take more cards as long as his hand has a value less than 17.

If the dealer’s hand exceeds 21 points, all remaining players automatically win. Otherwise, the player’s hands are compared to the dealer’s hand. The hand that comes closer to 21 always wins. In the event of a tie, the player gets their bet back. If you can beat the dealer’s hand, you get your bet plus your winnings at a ratio of 1:1.

Important: You always compare your hand with the dealer’s hand. The card value of the other players at the blackjack table is irrelevant to the outcome of your game round.

A special hand is a blackjack, which consists of a ten-point card (10, jack, queen or king) and an ace. If a player is dealt a blackjack, he immediately wins the game round. If the dealer is dealt blackjack, all players lose the hand unless the player has blackjack himself. In this case, the player gets his stake back.

Typically, blackjack will give you a higher payout at odds of 3:2. With a bet of 10 euros, a blackjack would therefore bring in 15 euros in profit.

Special rules

Blackjack has dozens of variants. Depending on the House Rules, you may have certain additional options. Popular common special rules are for example:

Insurance: If the dealer’s upcard is an ace, you can take out insurance against a blackjack. You place your bet again. If the dealer’s face-down card is actually a ten-point card, you get your insurance and your bet back. However, if the dealer does not have blackjack, you lose your insurance bet. You can then continue playing the game round normally.

Online blackjack

Split: If your first two cards are of equal value, you can split the cards into two new hands. You must place your bet again, after which your starting cards will be split into two new hands. You receive one more card for each hand and can now play both hands independently.

Double: At the start of your game round, you can double your bet and be dealt a single additional card. Your game round will then automatically.
